Click to Enlarge Image Knight - "BHMA". 2 3/8" high x 2" wide x 1/2" deep. Iron. Warded. Curved recess shackle. This padlock is similar to the John Gerard "Eagle Liberty" in size and shape. The curved recess shackle is characteristic of other John Gerard designs. Some molds have very minor size and detail differences. "BHMA" and crossed pick and shovel are embossed on the reverse of the body. I believe this lock is related to the Black Hills Mining Association, Deadwood, South Dakota.

The black enamel background finish does not appear in the R&E catalogs. The R&E Co. trademark is not cast on the obverse of the case above the keyway. There is a void on the reverse of the case at 6 o'clock where the production/date code normally is. Mfg by: Unknown.
