I do not own this lock.
I believe that the 1887 patent and the 1891 patent (#573) was made by the same company or the 1887 patent was subsequently assigned to the company who made the Worlds Fair souvenir lock. Further more I believe the 1887 patent was for the mechanism and the 1891 patent was for the design. You will notice that the key indents below the shoulder allow the key to be retained by the mechanism. You may use my split screen feature to do a side by side comparison. |
